Storm and Sanitary Sewers, Street Lighting, and Water Main Extension

SE3 served as the prime engineering subconsultant to the Kansas City Public Works Department to design this site development project at 74th Street and Palmer Avenue.  Candlelight Ridge at Palmer was a 4.8-acre residential development that consisted of 13 lots and included an extension of Palmer Avenue to the south and the construction of 74th Terrace to the east to intersect with Manchester Avenue.

SE3 performed the street design which included an enclosed storm drainage system, water main extension, sanitary sewer, and street lighting. Stormwater detention was necessary to handle the increase in stormwater runoff due to the improvements. The Public Works Department administered the project; however, SE3 worked with the City to include additional storm drainage work related to a Public Improvements Advisory Committee project. Our design team worked directly with the Water Services Department (WSD) to include storm drainage improvements to alleviate flooding problems at 7700 E. and 7702 E. 75th Street. SE3 also worked with WSD to study the needed improvements to the downstream drainage system ending at the drainage outfall.
