For the 28-span I-280 Bridge over the Mississippi River SE3 played a vital role in the successful completion of this project. The bridge consisted of nine units and the repairs included deck replacement, substructure repairs, arch span repairs, and approach slab replacement.
The fast-paced project SE3 personnel provided deck design, bridge deck drainage design for the entire structure, evaluation of the existing girders, shear stud design, edge beam design, and deck pour sequence layout for four of the nine units. A more efficient and thicker deck was implemented, replacing the old standard deck. In addition, shear studs were added to meet the requirement of the AASHTO Standard Specifications.
Quality Control reviews were conducted collaboratively, and issues were resolved immediately due to the utilization of Bluebeam PDF software which shared communication in real time. This immediate line of communication provided direction to design team personnel for effective communication.
SE3 staff worked efficiently to meet deadlines, design team coordination, and under budget.
