This project was for the replacement of two closely spaced bridges over the Mussel Fork River near Keytesville, MO.  SE3’s scope included the preparation of all traffic control, signing, striping plans, the associated details, quantities, and specifications for final projects. In addition, SE3 assisted with the bridge design.

  • Complexities for Signing and Striping: determining passing zones due to the addition of a new horizontal curve
  • Complexities for Traffic Control: determining provisions for temporary pavement and traffic signals due to the replacement of two bridges and the desire of MoDOT to allow traffic to traverse through the study area during all phases of construction with no closures. Due to the limited number of MoDOT routes and river crossings in the area, two directions of travel needed to be open to traffic at all times to avoid a 15-mile detour.  Traffic could travel over the river with only slightly delayed overall travel times
