SE3 assisted with preparing the plans, specifications, and estimate of the Sam Rayburn Tollway Expansion as a subconsultant to HDR, Inc. The project included widening from three to four lanes in both directions. Roadway widening occurred to the inside lanes of the 13.3-mile stretch of the SRT from Denton Tap Rd to the Dallas North Tollway with associated replacement/expansion of guide signs and pavement markings. Previously SE3 was a part of the Schematic and Environmental study for the entire stretch of the Sam Rayburn Tollway.

SE3’s scope for the project was signing and striping.

  • The project included replacing 65 signs that were not compliant with current Texas MUTCD standards and placing pavement markings, delineation, and object markers along the 13-mile stretch
  • SE3 prepared engineer cost estimates and schedules for signing and striping
  • We analyzed existing sign mounting heights and offsets from the roadway to determine if existing signs and structures met current NTTA specifications
  • The project included 44 new cantilever sign structures and eight bridges impacted by construction and marked for replacement
