SE3 conducted Sidewalk Design Inspection Services in Kansas City as a subcontractor to Anderson Engineering. The project goal was to create a database that both identified deficiencies and prioritized them to maximize efficiencies for planning and scheduling repairs and installations.  SE3 performed inspections for over 150 miles of sidewalks and over 2,200 ADA ramps at 540 four-way intersections.

Sidewalks and ramps were initially scanned by the prime consultant using a Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR)-equipped vehicle which allowed for the initial assessments of the existing curb conditions and out-of-slope sidewalk panels. SE3’s field investigation crew walked those same areas and performed field quality assurance reviews on all identified sidewalks and ADA ramps as a follow-up to the initial LIDAR process.

SE3 also provided Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping services as part of the project. Our team was tasked with the recording of damage point shapefile geolocations by creating individual nodes identifying sidewalk segment panels as part of the “Out of Repair Criteria” due to defective or missing ramps. SE3 provided an electronic deliverable enhanced with the use of digital forms that could be completed in the field.
