SE3 was a key part of the Illinois Tollway’s General Engineering Consultant (GEC) team as a subconsultant to AECOM since 2010. During that time SE3 has provided various roles across multiple disciplines in support of the Illinois Tollway’s Congestion Relief and Move Illinois Programs. In our role on the GEC Team, one of the key roles that SE3 provides is Design Corridor Management and Construction Support for the Systemwide Corridor. Key components of this project included:
- Planning and Programming for annual Systemwide roadway and bridge maintenance and repair contracts
- Design review of Systemwide design contract milestone submittals
- Provide guidance, coordination, and review of maintenance of traffic requirements for Systemwide design contracts as well as maintenance of traffic revisions based on field conditions for Systemwide construction contracts
- Assignment of design Task Orders to Tollway Design Upon Request (DUR) consultants
- Coordination with Tollway GEC review staff and Tollway User Departments regarding design submittals
- Tracking of design contract elements including task orders, milestone schedules, construction budgets, permitting, land acquisition, deviations, detours, intergovernmental agreements, railroad coordination, and work zone speed limits through the Systemwide Design Tracking Logs developed by our staff
- Creation of Systemwide Corridor construction maps and supporting information for Tollway stakeholders
- Preparation and updating of the Systemwide Look Ahead Schedule for coordination with the Tollway’s Program Management Office
- Construction Coordination/Support for all Systemwide corridor maintenance and repair contracts
- Coordination with Tollway Communications for all Systemwide construction contracts. This includes preparation of Construction Contract Overview sheets, bi-weekly external coordination reports, and attendance and coordination of all maintenance of traffic meetings
- Constructability reviews of Systemwide design contracts at the 60% and 100% milestones
- Tracking of DUR and Construction Upon Request (CUR) scopes and budgets
- Job Order Contracting design and construction support for the Tollway’s Toll Operations (facilities) department
- Web Based Project Management (e-Builder) coordination and implementation for Systemwide design and construction contracts.
