Terrance St. to Euclid Ave, 3rd St. to 32nd Terrace

SE3 was the prime engineer with the Kansas City Water Services Department on this portion of their Water Main Replacement Program for Fiscal Year 2016.  SE3 designed the replacements for existing public water mains located within six streets and bounded by Terrace Street to Euclid Avenue and 3rd Street to 32nd Terrace.

The design provided for the replacement of approximately 1,420 feet of existing cast iron pipes ranging in diameters from 8-inch to 12-inch ductile iron protected with poly-wrap. This water main replacement project included areas within the downtown Kansas City Loop which provided unique complexities such as active steam lines from the early 20th century that were insulated with asbestos and crowded existing utilities within the corridors. An alignment study was conducted to review new alignments to avoid the existing infrastructure. Fire hydrant replacement and spacing was also part of the design study.
