North Ave to Quincy Ave, East 52nd St to East 55th St
SE3 served as the prime engineer for the Kansas City Water Services Department on this portion of their Water Main Replacement Program for Fiscal Year 2017. SE3 designed the replacements for existing public water mains located within seven streets and bounded by Norton Avenue to Quincy Avenue, East 52nd Street to East 55th Street.
The design provided for the replacement of existing cast iron pipes ranging in diameters from 2-inch to 8-inch. This work portion was mostly done within residential neighborhoods and required the replacement of service lines at 108 residences. The water main replacement pipe consisted of 8-inch ductile iron protected with polywrap.
Alignment studies were conducted to review new alignments to avoid the existing infrastructure and to minimize the disturbance to residential yards. Fire hydrant replacement and spacing was also part of the design study.
